America Polls the World!

I had this thought, that America in its true democratic fashion should give other countries a say. I mean, if we polled every country and every single person all over the world as to what they wanted, then maybe they could start taking some of the blame for our actions.

Is not the purpose of Democracy to limit the freedoms of some people? We always talk about Democracy equalling freedom for everyone. Its just that Democracy in its most ideal form takes away the freedom of a few people, and gives it to a lot of people. HYPOTHETICALLY, this is how its supposed to work. Its supposed to prevent the interests of a few rich people from taking precedent over the interests of everyone else.

AS IF capitalism prevents the interests of the few from taking precedent over the interests of many? How can capitalism mean freedom for anyone other than the interests of a few? So democracy and capitalism/industrialization cannot really co exist unless...

You don't really have democracy, and you don't really have capitalism.

Capitalism has prevented democracy from being a viable part of American politics. Rather, it is akin to the music situation in America as it has been since the advent of recorded music. You can vote for the number one video in america, on shows like TRL, but its not like you can really pick which songs are on TRL...Not that it really matters, in that scenario, but it better damn well matter when it comes to deciding who should be our president.

Capitalism isn't too popular in America either because of democracy. Many people instinctively realize that unless there are constraints put on raw capitalism, buisinesses buy other businesses, and then are bought by other businesses, and then pretty soon we have communism because there is only one business and the government is its slave, or fascism where government becomes its master. In America, business is simultaneously the master and slave of government. But I think that it is increasingly becoming its master.

Nobody wants that, so we have this nice watered down version of both. Did you know that we have followed most of Karl Marx's recommendations regarding government reform, peacefully and without violence. Look it up, its in the manifesto. If you put people in charge, they change things.

But in America, we have also incredible stupidity and short sightedness. In the interests of the few, and allegedly the many, we have spread our unique democratic authoritarianism all over the world.

DO THEY WANT IT?

If we are really a democracy then why don't we ask them? If they don't want it then lets leave. Lets get our military bases out of their countries. Why don't we set up a vote in all of the countries we occupy, and ask everyone, terrorists, law abiding citizens, and government officials what they want? If they want us to overthrow their government, then lets at least think about it. Obviously, this wouldn't work in oppressive governments, but do we really want to be supporting oppressive governments like Saudi Arabia by providing them with defenses? Well, that is assuming that our government isn't opressive, and that we are opposed to opression in general.

But if Saudi Arabia is willing to have a vote to decide if they want us there, then the people can start to take responsibility for their own actions, rather than flying an airplane into one of our buildings. If we take our military out of peoples countries, then guess what? The businesses there will probably have to leave, or risk not being under our economic protection. Maybe, they will come back to America and give us some decent, well paying jobs. Maybe not. Just a thought.

I mean granted, we don't need to do EVERYTHING that they ask us to. But if its really that big of a deal that we have troops in Saudi Arabia, then lets get going.

On Fighting

Fighting is probably one of the most essential male behaviors. We are all about kicking ass. Women don't really see how it makes sense, but guess what? It doesn't make sense. Its a "penis thing", like making huge fires, and blowing stuff up. Why can't there be more fighting? In my opinion, dueling wasn't such a bad idea. The problem with dueling is that someone inevitably died. If there were more fist fights, then perhaps we might have less murders. I mean, it takes a lot of agression for someone to kill someone else, but fighting is part of who we are, and I think that if enough agression is allowed to build up, then it sometimes comes out in more serious forms of violence, or worse, sexual assault. If a man is required to bottle up his agression, he might unleash it on an innocent victim. To me, its just that simple.

Its a long way to the top.

We always wonder why our country is so messed up; why we have serial killers here, and wars in Iraq, why our country behaves so much like the sociopaths that we try to put behind bars.

Its not too difficult to see what the causes of some of the problems are.
-we completely lack an imagination (more on that later)
-we use spirituality to make ourselves look good and not for the benefit of others
-we ignored the true spirit of the American Revolution
-simultaneously, we are fain to live in positive community with each other
-we look at Anarchy as a bad thing rather than a perfect ideal
-nationalism is the driving force behind our government's actions
-Don't even get me started on capitalism.

Am I a communist? No.
Am I a liberal socialist? Maybe
A libertarian? Maybe

But what I do know is that our lives are micromanaged by the authorites in our life, whether it is business telling us how to support their interests by buying worthless crap that we will use maybe once, or it is the government telling us what we can or can't do with our property.

We need to own our selves again. Its not enough to lurch forwards through life blindfolded, trying to hit the pinata of happiness. Rather, we ought to look around at the things that make us human and seek them out. The search for practically attainable happiness is what this blog is all about.

Remember, the only freedom that we can have is freedom that we can take for ourselves. If only for a minute, lets take hold of that freedom and have a keen flow of ideas.
